Our Vision

At Spark STEAM Academy, we believe in preparing children and families for a lifetime of exploration and learning. We celebrate the fact that young children are full of potential, and we proclaim the fundamental right of every child to receive the support necessary to reach that potential. We know that early childhood education is not only about children, but also about the families they come from as well. We support our families by encouraging their participation in their children’s learning, by creating opportunities for parents to form new friendships for themselves, and by offering ongoing parent education to our families. Here at Spark STEAM Academy, parents are our partners in creating a community of children, parents, and educators in which all members can thrive.

Our Goal

Our goal is to provide a warm, loving atmosphere which allows all children to develop in a healthy and stimulating environment.

Where the Passion Begins

The Story of Our Founder, Kayundra Diltz

I grew up in Wellston, MO, an extremely impoverished neighborhood. There weren’t very many opportunities for myself and my peers, but I knew at a young age I wanted to be something greater than what I saw in front of me. I wanted to make a difference.

When it was time for me to graduate high school, I knew I had to go to college, but no one in my family had ever gone. My mom was a hard worker, and did the best she could, but didn’t have much knowledge or resources on how to help me get there. So with the encouragement of a few of my teachers, I did my research, filled out my own applications, and got accepted into Southeast Missouri State University, where I studied education.

In school, I struggled a bit in my major, but I had a professor who truly believed in me.  Knowing that I wanted to make a difference in my family and community, he encouraged to study social work instead. So I did!

After graduation, I was hired as the director of a 140 student child care center and simultaneously launched a home health and adult day center.

After much success in my businesses, I have decided to follow my heart and to get back to what I’m passionate about: Education and Children. In my journey to success, I would’n’t have made it without those teachers and professors who saw something in me, and decided to help. Spark will be that for the next generation of children.  I’m ready for the challenges as well as the wins. This one will be for our future and for our community.
